I am a hopeless fan of many shows. To name a few: Grey’s, Survivor, Dancing with the Stars and Project Runway. Do you get a theme here? Yeah, I do like reality TV. Sorry, Idol fans, don’t do it. That is a show I just haven’t gotten into despite my love of music and it’s mainly because the judges suck. Summer is the time of year that I don’t view TV as much as I do during the fall and winter. But this one show intrigued me.
On my way to work two weeks ago, the morning show I listen to mentioned this show: Dating in the Dark. Heard of it? It’s a reality show trying to prove that “love is blind”. Basically, these 3 women and 3 men have dates in the “dark room”. And towards the end, they get to see each other, but not the other’s reaction. It goes into more detail, but that’s the gist of it. Then at the end of the show, they either meet each other on the balcony or one of them leaves out the front door.
I have not had any formal training in psychology or sociology, but it’s fascinating! Last week, one of the men had a “dilemma” about the girl he was interested in because she “had more to love”. Really? The girl was probably a size 10 or 12. What does he want? Nicole Richie? That’s all fine, but he actually met her on the balcony to pursue her. That’s after he admitted it might be a “deal breaker”.
So all this has gotten me to thinking. Do you really think that the above couple is going to make it? I have my doubts. Everyone is attracted to some certain aspect of physical appearance. Am I right here? Because if I had a connection with the above man, I wouldn’t have pursued him. He was just too skinny for me. I need a man with some “meat” on him! My husband has “meat”. Steven Paige (ex-singer for the Barenaked Ladies. I love him! Yes, Matt knows…) has “meat” on him.
Do I think “love is blind”? No. And now you all think I’m shallow. Which is fine. I’m also a flake, too. Lucky you! And I’m definitely tuning in tomorrow to see what other heinous people do. Intriguing!!
