Yesterday morning started out a good morning. I have recently given up on doing anything with my hair that requires a curling iron, so I can get through the morning routine pretty quickly now. Most days I can’t even get mascara on because my eyes are too puffy. This is the sad, but true, life with allergies. I ate a bowl of cereal while I went through my tweets and checked Facebook and my email. It’s something I do most mornings. Who doesn’t eat cereal and Twitter?
And then I went to get the girls up. Brenna was Miss Crabby Pants. I know that most mothers can tell when their child is going to have a trying day, and this was one of them. Not a great way to start. The whining was almost instantaneous and that’s enough for me to go over the edge! So, off to Ro’s room. When Brenna opened her door, the smell of poop came hurling out and hit my nose so hard I thought I lost it! And there she is holding her diaper with a big smile on her face. And just then I realized what she had done. There were terds in her crib and a huge wet spot. And yet, she smiled and said “Poopy” to me. She proceeded to walk all around it while I was scrambling to get her out of the crib and washed up. Oh dear Lord, what is wrong with this evil child? Brenna never did that! Never, not once. Rowan has now handed me her diaper twice now in less than a week. Seriously? I stick her on the potty and she does nothing. She knows what it is, reaches for the TP, sits on her Dora ring and can even flush the toilet! I am now going to invest in some heavy duty duck tape and ban the nightgowns. Or she’s going out to the kennel. I haven’t decided which one it will be yet.
