No, I’m not talking about our checking account, but some days it does feel like that! What I am referring to is Polly’s milk, or the lack of it. As most of the pups are approaching the 5 pound mark, and a couple more than that, she cannot keep up with milk production. And I truthfully can’t blame her since their teeth are in and……..OUCH! She’s getting a little tore up, too. So we started them on “gruel” last night.
And I had the bestest night sleep ever! I’m trying to ignore the fact that I had to verbally abuse my husband at 5am this morning to get his you-know-what outta of bed. So I lost a good 20 minutes there. Is there any man on this earth that actually wakes up to an alarm clock? Doubt it. He got up early to go to a dog show out in Syracuse today and he was there yesterday also.
So now comes the sleeping through the night and with that comes some consequences, like poopfests. We have switched the whelping box over from nice plush towels and sheets to newspaper. No more washing buttloads of laundry every single day to buying stock in BJ’s just for their trash bags. And this is when the newspaper subscription is finally justifiable! I have mounds of it! This is also justifying the trash removal every Monday, something that I must say, is worth every dollar. Hauling stuff to the dump is not how I would like to spend my Saturdays! Along with poopfest, they have “walk in the puppy bowlitis” which is making them not the most photogenic these days. They have food stuck all over them and along with the poop…well, these images AREN’T going to win awards! So I will leave you with one picture from last week. Stayed tuned!

“Is there any milk in there Mama?”
That’s the half-mask male. He is the cutest darn thing in the world and loves to snuggle with his mama!
