Today made for some interesting conversation at the lunch table. I’m going to put in my disclaimer right now: I am not known for my knowledge in current affairs, politics and foreign policy. Therefore, if I write something totally stupid or wrong, please just chalk it up to naivety.
One of the Cardiologists in the practice I work for is extremely passionate about this whole gas price thing going on. And I don’t know too much about it, only that it is really affecting my budget. He was going on and on today about it and I learned a lot from him. Did you know that we (the USA) have not drilled for any new oil in like 27 years? Why? Because the environmentalist don’t want us to. Did you know that other countries are pumping out millions of barrels of oil a day in International Waters? And that upsets me. Why can’t we drill for new oil on American ground if it will help our tanking economy? Until the fuel cells are perfected, the world is going to rely on oil. It’s just a harsh fact. And I feel that the government needs to release some barrels in the reserve to get oil prices to go down a little. I’m just going crazy thinking about the heating bill this winter! Never mind the $500 or more a month in just gas so my husband can do his job in sales. And maybe his thinking is wrong to some people, but it makes sense to me. I thought he was going to have an MI today the way he was all fired up! It’s so great to see the passion!
