So last night as I was feeding the crew at the kennels, I noticed that Sinatra is looking a little, well, heavy. I guess that is the most PC word I can find in my brain. While Sinatra is eating with gusto, Polly is abandoning some of her food. She looks as good as one would think after losing some pups, getting milk in and not nursing. I kind of kept this in the back of my head because Matt hasn’t said anything about Sinatra’s weight lately. Until last night.
“Is it just me or is Sinatra looking good for this time of year?”
I’m racking my brain for the mental image of him the previous May’s we’ve had him. Can’t quite get it until I think about the NESBC Specialty Shows we’ve shown him at. He’s usually out of coat and down weight because inevitably Polly is just coming out of heat. So, yeah, I guess he looks good compared to previous years. Or is he just getting fat?
“I think he’s looking a little heavy. What was that phrase? Pig Fat. Yeah, you know when (name omitted) came over to feel him up at the show in White Plains last year?”
“She didn’t call him Pig Fat. She just came over to see if it was true. She felt him and said he wasn’t fat. I told her that he has a lot of coat.”
“Well, he’s in coat but he’s looking pretty heavy to me. Maybe this is the definition of Pig Fat.”
“Or maybe he’s just feeling good.”
Feeling good? I think Sinatra’s definition of feeling good is soaking in the bathtub before a dog show. He likes to get in touch with his metro sexual side. I swear that dog is in heaven when we bathe him, so much so that he goes in this trance where we’re not sure if he’s sleeping or enjoying it so much that he’s on the verge of a heart attack!
“Or maybe he’s Pig Fat and happy?” I say.
“He’s not fat!”
And the debate goes on. We’ll see what he weighs on the 27th when we bring him for his physical. Is there a diet in the future?
